Blood Drive #2

In mid-April, the Charity Guys were back at it saving lives at the blood donor clinic. In an effort to try and raise awareness in the community and ease the fears of first time donors, the Charity Guys assembled 9 more people to donate. For the majority of the individuals, this was their first time donating blood. Meeting just after 1pm, each person was registered at the front desk with shaking hands and racing thoughts forgoing the donation out of total fear. The idea of 610ml of blood being removed through plastic tubes from your body is not the most natural task to accept, but nonetheless a very noble experience once it is all said and done. After each “newbie” donation has been taken people sit in confused awe state of mind at a table eating delicious free cookies and enjoy tropical fruit beverages, thinking to themselves, “that wasn’t so bad after all”.

If you are one of those people who has had thoughts of donating blood before and want to learn more or potential take the leap of faith, this is a great way to experience the living saving event. You will be more than surprised before it is half way through of how easy it is, and how much fun you had hanging out with the team! We hope to see you at the next ¬†blood drive, and don’t forget donations can be made every 56 days.

  1. HAPPY NEW YEAR CHARITY GUYS – Just read about you in the Seaside Times. I’m elated at your blood donations. FANTASTIC!! Let me tell you about myself (very briefly) I have been receiving a blood product for the past 40 years. 39 of those years every 2 weeks and now this past year I go in every week. I have NOT a trace of Gamma Globulin in my blood, so people like you are truly my ANGELS, my LIFELINE and my HEROES. I am working with Catherine Sloot of Canadian Blood Services this year. I try to go regularly to the various blood donor clinics and sit with donors and thank them for their life saving contribution. It has been a win, win situation, as many are moved to tears to have a face and a story to go with their many years of donations. Thank you from the bottom of my heart for ALL of your innovative ideas. You fellows are truly brilliant.
With warm regards and a VERY HAPPY NEW YEAR.
